Who We Are & What We Do...
Welcome to InternDC. We attract young professionals from all over the world. Upon admission to our Internship Program, Interns are guaranteed a fall, spring or summer Internship of their choice.
Success and community go hand in hand. We don't just provide internships. That is just the beginning. We also focus on perfecting interns' professional image and their potential to help the community through supplemental career development courses, volunteerism and retreats.
The InternDC Intern hones his or her critical analysis, debate and public speaking skills and grows through one-on-one professional development and networking workshops.

Message from the President
Dear Members and Guests, This online community is the result of hard work from dedicated friends. We wanted to support recent college graduates and young professionals in Washington, D.C. We wanted the hundreds of thousands of young people in our nation's capital to take part in a forum where we could exchange our ideas and share lessons that we learned -- about presenting the most professional image, landing the right jobs, networking, and finding affordable housing.
My friends and I raised over $20,000 from local businesses and organizations to create www.InternDC.net. It is a free, interactive website that enables members of our community to send each other messages, chat in real time, and share ideas. Check out your event calendar and post new events for all of us to see - check the weather while you're at it! Explore InternDC's growing directory of businesses and services. Any member can upload new listings onto the directory for free. Members can post comments next to each business in the directory sharing their personal experiences - both good and bad. Members can also upload their pictures. If a member posts the address of the club or restaurant (or wherever he or she went), others can see a map with directions on how to get there. Our members voice their opinions through regular opinion polls. We rely on you to post content on this website because it is truly your perspective that makes us who we are. Want to sell an old book? Or post a message on the forum about a pressing issue? Feel free to do just that because this is your community and your place to share ideas.
Membership is completely free. We have thousands of visitors every day and now have a dedicated group, over 150 strong who actively take part in our professional development events, social gatherings, and seminars. Our members include career advisors, experienced professionals and mentors. Many of our members don't live in Washington, D.C. but benefit from InternDC's online community. InternDC also attracts a growing number of advertisers who are interested in tapping a powerful market with which our members are intimately familiar. This in turn has helped us offer our members valuable discounts and perks at retail establishments throughout the nation's capital.
Many of our members expressed concerns about the difficulty of finding affordable, quality housing in Washington D.C. Since interns frequently stay in Washington for less than a year, they are often unable to sign year-long leases. Consequently, some less-than-scrupulous landlords have been known to considerably overcharge interns for rent, while providing sub-standard tenant care by putting two or more interns into a single room. Some have even kicked interns out with little or no notice. Without leases, interns had little recourse to legal assistance. We wanted to change this situation. Our members told us they preferred a furnished arrangement - near shopping areas and within a 5 minute walk to a metro station. We took your thoughts and suggestions into careful consideration and are now in the process of finalizing a purchase of InternDC Manor. Once renovations are complete, The Manor will be a 7-8 bedroom jewel in the heart of Washington, D.C. and will be made available to qualified members of our organization.
We also offer a tuition-based internship program, in which accepted applicants are guaranteed placements at companies and organizations of their choice. Our interns attend courses focusing on critical analysis, debate, and public speaking. We also go on retreats that emphasize professional development, networking and teamwork.
InternDC boasts a vibrant volunteerism program. Success is not just about a resume - it is intimately tied to helping your community. Recently, InternDC sponsored a homeless shelter cookout in partnership with Phi Alpha Delta's Langston Chapter Legal Fraternity. Our members helped feed more than 300 homeless people in Washington, D.C.
We are also in the process of partnering with YTB Travel Network to launch InternDC Preferred Travel - an online travel agency much like Expedia or Orbitz - but designed exclusively to give InternDC members and members' families special discounts and privileges for when they travel to and from Washington, D.C., or anywhere in the world.
As an undergraduate student at Colgate University (Class of 2003) - I always had a strong foundation of help, guidance and support wherever I turned. As a member of Colgate's President's Club, and an Alumni Memorial Scholar - I know the importance of alumni networks that provide guidance and support. InternDC was designed to provide guidance and support for all young professionals in Washington, D.C. We believe in drawing strength from solidarity.
If you see me online - use our chat system to say hello. I hope to get to know each of you and hear your ideas.
Sincerely,

Johny Chaklader
